2008 Officers

President: Helen Collins-Epps, GRI, LTG

Collins-Epps, LTG, GRI, has been a member of GFWAR since 1989. Well-acquainted with the workings of the Association, Collins-Epps has served on the GFWAR Board of Directors for multiple years and as Vice President / President-elect in 2007 and Secretary / Treasurer in 2006. In the past, Collins-Epps has served as a member of the TAR Equal Opportunity Committee and National WCR Education Committee. In 1996 and 1997, she served two terms as the WCR president of the Fort Worth chapter and has been involved in various national WCR committees. Actively involved in the community, Collins-Epps has served six years on the Tarrant Appraisal District Review Board and a number of years on the Board of the Metropolitan Black Chamber. She also has served on the City of Forest Hills Economic Development Board, as a consultant to the City of Fort Worth Housing Department and was appointed to the City of Fort Worth Community Development Council.
In addition, she is a national motivational speaker and a
TREC-certified MCE instructor.

Vice President / Pres. elect: Kenneth Jones
President and broker of Kenneth Jones & Associates, Ken Jones is serving as the 2008 GFWAR Vice President / President-elect. Having served as the Secretary / Treasurer in 2007, Jones knows the
ins-and-outs of the Association. He has served on the TREPAC and Leadership Development Committees and as Chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee. In addition, he is a member of the Society of Commercial REALTORS
® and a graduate of the Inaugural GFWAR Leadership Class. Jones is a State Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser and has been in real estate for over 25 years. He was a Presidential Appointee during the administration of President George H.W. Bush. Actively involved in the community, Jones serves on the Leadership Council of the American Diabetes Association and is currently the Board President of the Youth Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth. He also is a Past Board Chairman of the American Red Cross.

Secretary / Treasurer: Mel Harris, EcoBroker, ABR
Broker / principal of Elements Realty Group, LLC,
Mel Harris is serving his first year as an officer of GFWAR. He has held a variety of leadership positions in the past and is currently on the GFWAR Board of Directors and the Society of Commercial REALTORS
® Board of Governors. Harris also has served on the Governmental Affairs Committee, the Task Force for the TAR Housing Opportunity Fund for the Rebuild Rita Project and was a graduate of the GFWAR 2006 Leadership Class. In addition, he was the chairman of the TREPAC committee in 2005 and is serving as the 2008 liaison for the TAR Housing Initiatives Committee. Outside the Association, Harris is an active member of the Tarrant Coalition of Environmental Awareness, the United States Green Building Council and is on the Board of the Youth Orchestra of Greater Fort Worth.

Immediate Past President: Dan Odom, CPM, CRB
Broker / owner of Award Co. REALTORS
®, Dan Odom, CPM, CRB, GRI, SRES, has been a member of GFWAR since 1972. Actively involved in the Association, Odom served as GFWAR President in 2007 and was presented the REALTOR® Spirit Award in 2004. Odom is a founding member of the National Association of Residential Property Managers (NARPM), and a founding and life member of the Fort Worth / Midcities Chapter of NARPM. He is a past president of IREM and received the IREM CPM of the Year Award in 1993. In addition, Odom is a past president of the Apartment Association of Tarrant County and received the National Apartment Association Professional Designate Award in 1992. With a knack for teaching, Odom has taught landlord / tenant issues and property management in Louisiana, New Mexico, California and throughout Texas. He enjoys writing and developing real estate curriculum and is a GRI and TREC instructor. In addition, he served GFWAR in 2006 and 2007 as an MLS class instructor.

2008 Board of Directors

Johnny Bennett, broker / owner of Bennett & Associates Real Estate Company, will begin his first term on the GFWAR Board of Directors in 2008. Bennett has served on the GFWAR Education, Installation and Grievance committees and is a past president of the Southeast Tarrant County Optimist Club. In addition, he is involved as a board member of the Texas Association of Real Estate Brokers and has served as a past president of the Fort Worth Association of Real Estate Brokers.

Genny Brown, ABR, REALTOR® with Keller Williams Realty, will begin the second year of her first term on the GFWAR Board of Directors. Brown has been actively involved in the Association over the past several years, serving on the Strategic Planning, Nominating and TREPAC committees. Also, she has been a vital member of the Property Management Committee, which she chaired in 2006. In addition, Brown is involved in the Burleson Area Tour Group, the Burleson Chamber of Commerce, the American Heart Association and the Disabled Crime Victims Organization.

JoAn Earl, ABR, CRS, GRI, REALTOR® associate with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, will serve on the 2008 GFWAR Board of Directors. Earl has served on a variety of committees at GFWAR in the past and is a graduate of Leadership GFWAR. She has the distinction of being the first woman elected to the North Richland Hills City Council and was elected to three terms. In addition, she has served as Vice President of Programming for the Fort Worth Women's Club and as a board member of the Ballet Guild.

Robert Henley, REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, will continue serving on the GFWAR Board of Directors. Henley is a graduate of Leadership GFWAR and has served on the Governmental Affairs and Technology Committees at GFWAR in the past. But, his passion is working with GFWAR’s Adopt-A-School, Greenbriar Elementary School. Each year, Henley volunteers as a mentor and serves as Santa at the GFWAR Christmas Luncheon. In addition, he has served as an officer in the Junior Chamber of Commerce and is in charge of the Habitat for Humanity program in his office. Henley also teaches extended education classes on real estate at TCU.

Wini Klein, CRS, LTG, broker associate with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, is well-versed when it comes to GFWAR. This is the second year of her term as a director, but Klein has served on the Board of Directors several times in the past. She is co-chair of the Neighborhood Revitalization Committee and has been active on the Professional Standards, Bylaws and REALTOR® of the Year Committees. With a passion for neighborhood revitalization,  Klein is the author of “The Book of Neighborhoods” and has served as a commissioner on the Historic and Cultural Landmarks Commission for the City of Fort Worth.

Sabrina Mueller-Hernandez, GRI, broker / owner of Red Door Realty, will begin her first term on the GFWAR Board of Directors. Mueller-Hernandez has actively served on the 2005, 2006 and 2007 GFWAR Strategic Planning Committees and was the MLS Committee Chair in 2005. Also, she was instrumental in the Radical Rehab project that GFWAR headed up with  Neighborhood Housing of Fort Worth in 2005. Currently, she's the chair of the 2008 Education Committee and is volunteering on the 2008 Business After Hours Committee.

Vicky Schoch, sales associate with Williams Trew Real Estate Services, will begin the second year of her first term on the GFWAR Board of Directors. In the past, Schoch has served on the MLS, Installation Strategic Planning and Nominating Committees. In addition, she’s a graduate of the GFWAR Leadership class and is active on the Building Improvements Committee. Other organizations she’s involved with include the Swiss Club, the Association of Decorative Painters and the Flying Pig Dinner Club.

Robb See, ABR, broker / owner of JJ Robb Real Estate Services, will continue his term on the 2008 GFWAR Board of Directors. See has served on the MLS, Historic Preservation and Governmental Affairs Committees in the past. In addition, he is co-chair for the Neighborhood Revitalization Committee and is active in the MLS Networking Group. Involved in the community, See is a past president of the Tarrant County AIDS Interfaith Network and served as the director of the 2007 Texas Rolloff Tournament.

Sue Sistrunk, GRI, CRS, ABR, LTG, owner / agent of RE/MAX Associates I in Burleson, has been appointed by 2008 GFWAR president Helen Collins-Epps to serve on the 2008 Board of Directors. Sistrunk has been a member of GFWAR for over 20 years, serving as president in 2004. She has been a member of the Governmental Affairs, Strategic Planning and Executive Committees. Also, Sistrunk is a graduate of the inaugural Leadership GFWAR class and is a
past-president of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®. She received the "Business Woman of the Year" award from WCR in 2007 and has been inducted into the 100% Club with RE/MAX. In addition, Sistrunk is a director for the Burleson Chamber of Commerce and the National Cowboys of Color Museum and Hall of Fame.  

Ted St. Clair, vice president of the Richard D. Minker Company, is serving his second term on the GFWAR Board of Directors. Having served in a variety of leadership positions at GFWAR, St. Clair is
well-acquainted with the role. He served on the Board of Directors from 2001 to 2003, and as Chairman of the Society of Commercial REALTORS® in 2002. In addition, he has held membership on the GFWAR Investment Committee and on the TAR Professional Standards Committee. St. Clair was the recipient of the William C. Jennings Commercial Transaction of the Year Award in 2005 and is active on the City of Fort Worth Historic Landmarks Commission.

Linda Tillett, GRI, CRS, ABR, sales associate with Keller Williams DFW Market Center, will be serving another term on the GFWAR Board of Directors. Tillett has provided her expertise in a variety of leadership positions since she joined the organization in 1986. She has been a member of the GFWAR Board of Directors multiple times and is the current chair of the GFWAR Housing Initiatives Committee. She was presented with the GFWAR President's Award in 2005 and 2006 and is actively involved with TAR, having served on the TAR Professional Standards Committee and the TAR Tax Reform Committee. In addition, she has served on the Appraisal Review Board and as Vice President of the Women's Council of REALTORS®.

Thomas Welsh, broker / owner of the Welsh Company, will continue his first term on the GFWAR Board of Directors in 2008. In the past, Welsh has served as chairman of the Society of Commercial REALTORS® and as a chairman of the GFWAR TREPAC Committee. In addition, Welsh is a past president of the Fort Worth Life Underwriters, Breakfast Optimist, Tarrant County Mental Health Association, and the Tarrant Bird Hunters Association. He also has been active in the Fort Worth Jaycees, the Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Worth Club, Petroleum Club, Jewel Charity Ball, Fort Worth Library, the Kimbell Art Museum, the Modern Art Museum and the Ridotto.

Kay West, ABR, CRS, GRI, sales associate with Virginia Cook, REALTORS®, has been appointed by 2008 GFWAR president Helen Collins-Epps to serve on the 2008 Board of Directors. Having served the past four years as an officer of the Association, West also has been actively involved in the Council of Residential Specialists. She served as the National CRS President in 2007. In addition, West was a TAR Director in 2003 and has been actively involved in the Professional Standards, Grievance, Governmental Affairs and Installation Committees at GFWAR over the past few years. In addition, the Council of Residential Specialists awarded West with the the Medallion Award in 2007, and she was named by NAR in 1998 to Omega Tau Rho, a real estate honorary fraternity, for exemplary service.

The Board of Directors also encompasses the Chairs of the Society of Commercial REALTORS® (SCR), the Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR) and Certified Residential Specialists (CRS) as ex officio members. These ex-officio directors may participate in the meeting, but don’t have voting rights.
