GFWAR Awards Revitalization
Know
of a property owner / investor who has made
noticeable exterior improvements to his or her
property? Once a quarter, the Neighborhood Revitalization Committee
of GFWAR is honoring a property owner / investor who
has enhanced the Fort Worth community through property
revitalization. The property may be
a commercial or residential structure, and the
committee prefers that the work was done within the
past 18 months. (Please include a before and after
photo of the property with the application.)

Now Required to Renew Licenses
All licensees are
now required to have
their fingerprints taken when renewing their
licenses. This new procedure, mandated by the Texas
Legislature, gives the Texas Department of Public
Safety the ability to perform a criminal history
check on every licensee. Real estate practitioners
must have their fingerprints taken no later than 10
days prior to the date a license expires. TREC will
not issue a license or renewal until it confirms
that the prints have been submitted. If a
practitioner does not get fingerprinted prior to the
deadline to renew his or her license, the license
will become inactive until the licensee provides his
or her fingerprints. Although the licensee will not
have to pay a late renewal fee, he or she will be
required to submit a change form and fee to go from
inactive status back to active status. In
order for licensees to have their fingerprints
taken, a FAST Print Pass must be completed, and
licensees must schedule an appointment to have their
fingerprints taken. Appointments may be scheduled at
www.ibtfingerprint.com
or by phone at
1-888-467-2080. The cost is $44.20,
and licensees may pay in advance by credit card
online or via the phone. Only checks or money orders
will be accepted as payment at the time of
fingerprinting.

TEAM
FWISD, a stay-in-school initiative funded by the U.S. Department of Education,
is looking for volunteers. The program works in conjunction with the Fort Worth
Independent School District, and a participant is placed with a student who is
between the ages of 9 and 14 in one of the designated schools below. The mentor
provides one-to-one or group mentoring support and guidance to the student.
Activities include assistance with homework, reading and engaging students in
sports, music or art projects. Both student and mentor are asked to make a one
school-year commitment with two to four contacts a month. TEAM FWISD staff will
work to match a mentor with a student based on interests and / or schedule. For
more information, contact TEAM FWISD at 817-871-2291 or 817-871-2947

Note:
This program is in conjunction with the FWISD Adopt-A-School
program, and GFWAR’s commitment to its Adopt-A-School,
Greenbriar Elementary School, is ongoing and unaffected by
this program. Many schools have both Adopt-A-School and TEAM
FWISD programs. So, make a difference – be a mentor!
